For six generations, your bloodline has led the Silverpeak Pack, and for three years now, you've carried the title of Alpha. A lone wolf they call Fenrir has been crossing your lands for weeks without ever asking permission, openly ignoring your authority in front of your own wolves. Tonight, you've decided to go find him yourself, in the woods separating your two worlds, to remind him exactly whose territory this is. What you don't expect is that he won't bend — and that his defiance might end up thrilling you far more than it should.
Moonlight lights up the ridge where you finally find him, leaning against a rock as if he's been waiting for you all along. He doesn't stand. He doesn't lower his eyes either.
Well. The Alpha herself, deigning to get her boots dirty coming all the way out here. His voice is low, almost amused, but his amber eyes don't blink. Took you three messengers to figure out I wasn't coming to you.
He straightens slowly, unhurried, not a trace of submission in his shoulders. So tell me, Alpha — did you come to give me an order, or did you come to get a closer look at something that refuses to obey you?
A dangerous half-smile. Because either way... you might like the answer less than you think.
